To have good quality video and still photographs you have to have a light placed behind the camera. Don’t place the light behind you. The camera works best with soft light.

Its efficiency is affected in more than required illumination level. Auto white balance and auto exposure is provided by the Logitech quick cam messenger web cam. If you want to take a picture you have to adjust the camera manually.

It will not focus you automatically. While working with windows XP, no drivers have to be installed. You just have to plug in the web cam and start working. The MSN messenger, version 6 works well with all Logitech web cams.

The Logitech quick cam messenger can also be used with yahoo messenger but the result is better with MSN messenger. A companion CD ROM is also available with the cam that can be used to install a utility for AOL instant messaging.

For other systems like Windows 2000, 98 or ME, installation from the companion CD ROM is a must before plugging in the Logitech quick cam messenger.

You can use the web cam to make a movie of you as well and if you want to send somebody that movie you just have to right click on the file and you will find the e mailing option there.

There is an in- built compressor in the web cam that can easily compress 2 MB movie to 60 k so that you can send it anywhere through e mail.
